History
Behind every company is the identity of an entrepreneur. With Badiu, this identity already starts with the name.
Badiu is a cultural and regional identity of a portion of the Cape Verdean population. Cape Verde is an African country located on the western coast of the African continent. Its population originated from the mixing of various African and European identities during the colonization process. Generally, the part of the population that inherited the African identity traits is called badiu. The other part, which inherited Western traits, is called sampadjudu. This classification also includes regional criteria.
Lino Vaz Moniz is a Cape Verdean, a dreamy badiu passionate about engineering. He dreamed of doing something great since childhood. His passion for technology was evident in adolescence. He gathered scraps to make cars. He would enter the workshop of Kiki, an older brother, and watch him closely as he repaired electronic watches and radios. At 12 years old, he set up his own workshop for repairing electronic watches. He provided services to the neighborhood of Pensamento, the neighborhood where he lived in the city of Praia.
During his secondary studies at Liceu Domingos Ramos, he discovered another passion: mathematics, with teachers Silvino and Craveiro.
In 1996, the young dreamer came to Brazil to study Political Science at the University of Brasília. Even while studying Political Science, he studied computing as an autodidact. He always sought to connect with compatriots like Rachid Antunes (Rá) and José Fidalga (Djosa), who were studying exact sciences, to exchange ideas about computing.
In 2000, he began his first experience in the job market by doing an internship at ANDI - News Agency for Children's Rights and CEAD - Distance Education Center of the University of Brasília. During his internship, he developed web-based software with practical utility. This experience was decisive in realizing that all the mathematical logic studied in high school with teachers Silvino and Craveiro could be applied in software development.
Another significant experience was developing a social perspective on technology. This occurred during his master's degree in Educational Technology, from 2002 to 2004, at the Faculty of Education of the University of Brasília under the guidance of Professor Raquel Moraes.
With all the experience accumulated in the field of technology, the dream carried since childhood began to see a concrete opportunity to create a company, offering information technology solutions for the Internet. Since 2000, this idea has been gaining strength.
From 2000 to 2008, the Badiu company project was built based on providing services as a freelancer, offering software solutions in managerial accounting and electronic billing (Banking Boleto). In addition, another experience accumulated was in the field of Educational Technology by acting as a teacher at FACEB - Cenecista College of Brasília, teaching subjects on pedagogical theories and practices geared towards the use of the Moodle environment.
All this experience was systematized in a business plan aimed at creating management solutions for the Moodle Platform. This was approved in the business incubation program at the CDT- Technological Development Center of the University of Brasília. In February 2008, Badiu entered the Project Hotel program of the Incubator. Later, it joined the business incubator program. At the end of 2011, it became a company graduated by the CDT.
This entire journey will be transformed into an organizational culture with the mission of making the dream of greatness a reality, contributing to social progress and offering technological solutions for the era of network coexistence.
